Field Rules |
There are many types of Field Rules that make the Alpha Five user more productive. One of the principle advantages of fields rules is that they are associated with the data. As a result, once developed, Field Rules are available for all of the layouts that an application will use.

The most common use of Field Rules is to make data entry faster and more accurate. A field rule can generate default values for fields, provide selection lists, and validate user input. The Field Types tab of the Field Rules Editor allows you to create Calculated and Auto increment fields. A calculated field is stored in your table, but its value is automatically computed by Alpha Five, usually based on the values of other fields in the record. Auto increment fields are typically used to generate unique index values for key fields. They can be character or alphanumeric using any pattern that you like.
