Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Printing label current record

When I go into action script to print a layout
    I select label
But it doesn't show current record.

    Re: Printing label current record

After selecting Label and clicking next the genie should present you with the record selection screen.

    There can be only one.

Make certain that both your label design and the form you are calling it from are based on the exact same table/set. Otherwise the current record option will not be available.

I don't think so. Otherwise you would have what Stan has shown as an option.

Show the form and the report from the control panel view in detail view which shows the table/set that the object is based on.

The other option is to have a unique record id that you can use to link to the record that you want.

Please post an example of the issue.

You'll need to zip the table/set that each object is based on.

                  Bob,

When you get to the point in design mode where you see the Select records dialog and current record is not one of the choices, use the Back button, then use the Next button. the Current Record Only option should then be available.
                  There can be only one.

                      Re: Printing label current record

I was speaking of design using action scripting.

I tried to duplicate your issue of not having the Current record only option and did. Upon arriving at the Select Records choices if I used the Back (1) and Next (2) buttons in the genie the second time the Select records choices included Current record only.

I pick a form in design mode.
I add a button a choice action script.
                        Pick Print Preview.
                        I select the label
And now I have to choice the records.
I tried your was 1st click back and click next
                        still no current record.

                          Re: Printing label current record

As Al indicated, a sample of your table or set zipped up and attached here seems to be the only way for us to proceed.

One further verification. When you choose Records (Print, Preview...) and Select layout type: Label, if you check the box immediately below

Only show layouts for current table/set

the label you want is in that list?

That tells you that the label you want to print is not based on the same table as the form where you are creating the button. In such a case there is no current record.

Find out what table or set the form is based upon.
Go to the labels tab of the control panel.
Right click on the label name you want and choose Copy To..., select the table/set discovered in step 1.

                              Now try creating the button.
                              There can be only one.
