Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Google Maps API Errors on Image Gallery (PhoneGap Build) - Latest Build 11th July 2016

    Hi

Just trying to get Image Gallery working in PhoneGap. Unfortunately (just my luck) I am trying to get this going after the period Google switched to mandatory API keys. Working with yesterday's build that introduced API Key into Project Properties or Alpha's install directory.

Doesn't matter if I put my new Browser Google Maps API into the Alpha Project Properties or create a file called GoogleMapsAPIKey.txt and place it in Alpha's program install directory. My API key is valid and tested on a another external mapping test.

So I Get following errors: in Chrome Console

    ------
util.js:208 Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys https://developers.google.com/maps/d...es#no-api-keys

js?sensor=false&callback=CUSTCOMP1_CustObj._gmapsApiLoaded&_=1468299739270:35 Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError https://developers.google.com/maps/d...-key-map-error

    ----------
I don't know if there is anything else to do on my side or if the new build from yesterday is correctly putting in the required statements below in its call(s)

Any assistance appreciated. Alternatively AlphaSoftware - any chance of a full-end to end video of a phonegap example of image gallery working with new Google API.

    Cheers
    Brian

Further testing....Also tried Simple Map Control and got the same errors as the Image Gallery. So seems issue is with any component I have using google maps.

    Cheers

Start over - no issues here at all.
      Sample from Just now.

This is where my Key is in Web Projects Properties.

That said - the Image Gallery is really getting old now - it may not work. (I use the list control for it these days).

I am having a similar issue. I have an api key to put in but the option in Project Properties is missing. I checked off the box to Include Google JSAPI library but the next option to enter the API key is missing. I have created a new blank project and created a UX control with a button that runs an Action JavaScript call to the Google Map Method (UX Component) but it also is missing the option in Project Properties. I am using the latest build (3670_4684). I surely must be missing something but it is not obvious. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe the Google Maps API key property was introduced in the pre-release builds.

Thanks David. Any idea when the pre-release might be scheduled for full release?

You may also want to login to your google API area and authorize your domain. The key will not work unless you do.
Something like that! I use it and it is working fine.
