    Default Click on PDF image

I need to enable users to click on an image displayed in a PDF report and the image actual size is loaded or a url is loaded.

    Anyone?

An image in a PDF report?

    Never tried it, but ...

You might be able to do it if you wrap the image in a link tag and use htmlprint to print it out.

But I don't think that will work in an Alpha report to PDF.

Your best bet is to print the URL out just under the image. Then they should be able to click on the URL to open the image in a browser. Might be your best bet and hopefully a reasonable compromise. Worth a try!

If you don't get a working answer here, you might submit this as a feature request. I would think it would be an option inside the report writer if you could do it.

Thank you. When i add a url the hand indicating its clickable does not appear. How do i make a pdf url clickable without showing a actual url.

    I want to have <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/html/">Visit our HTML tutorial</a>

If you were creating the pdf in word, it would be easy. But I'm not sure Alpha supports this, honestly. Hopefully you'll get some better answers next week when more people are on. BTW: I just noticed you are in the V9 forum. Are you really using V9 still? If what you are trying to do IS possible, you'll likely need to be in a much later version of Alpha.

Yes. v9 is all I need right now. There must be a way to click on an image within a PDF report and that redirects you to the image file url.

    Anyone.

The report writer is the same in the web as it is in the desktop.

I don't think your V9 report writer (which is what creates the PDF) will allow you to do this, but I never used V9, so I can't be 100% sure.

You'd be better off sending all the information to an a5w page and viewing it there instead. Then you could create whatever links you want.

Thank you so much for your responses. Do you have an example how is can use an a5w page to view an image?

Anything I would give you would be for V11 or V12, I have no idea if it would translate to V9.

I would use Xbasic in an a5w page to open a connection to the database, then use cn.open to grab the data.

then use ? (print) and cn.resultsetdata() to display the image using HTML Image tags.

That should give you a clickable image if you build it correctly.

If this is all greek to you, I could probably find some actual code that does this. Let me know!

    Hi Larry.
