    Default How to Do one to many data entry using Formview and Control bars

    is there an example on how to do one to many data entry using Formview and Control bar?
    Anyone experienced a very slow component when online? How many MB does your component usually consume? When I reach 5MB , it is very very slow in loading online even though I checked the Optimization of the component or the pre-render.

    here is an example of how to use for FormView control to do one-to-many forms. The video is designed to show two things : a) how to build a master-detail form using the FormView control and b) how very large forms (i.e. lots of fields) can still be highly performant if built using the FormView control.

    UX Component - Form View Control
    Using a FormView Control to Edit Data in a List Control - Master-Detail Forms - Very Large Forms
    By default, when you configure a List with a Detail View (so that edits can be made to the List data), the Detail View is composed using individual controls (e.g. Textbox, Textarea, Dropdown, etc). If the Detail View has a large number of fields, then composing the Detail View using individual controls will be inefficient and will result is a very large UX component that may not perform well.

    An alternative approach is to use the FormView control to implement the List's Detail View. This is extremely efficient and will all you to build UX components that edit very large forms but still perform very well.

    In this video we show how a master-detail Form is built using a FormView control to edit the fields in the Master table and a second FormView control to edit the fields in the Detail Table. The master table has 100 fields and the detail table has 100 fields, so in total, the UX component is editing 200 fields.

    Thank you so much! I believe you created another real world example using master detail. Is it possible to modify that and demonstrate how to add new records in the master and detail part. In the current example, only edits is demonstrated, We just wanted to know how to integrate the new button on the Control bar and a Next button to navigate and enter records on the detail Form.

    To create a new record in either the master or the detail, is actually quite simple.

    if you look at the sample component, both the master list and the detail list have a button called 'New Record'

    you will need to modify the button for the new record in each list to also show a new record in the form view.

    using action javascript - formview actions - you can quickly find out what the javascript code is to add a new record to the form view.

    you will see that the code is:

    Code:
    {dialog.object}.formViewNewRecord('FORMVIEW_1');

    you will also see that the code on the new record button for List 1 is:

    Code:
    var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1');
    lObj.newDetailViewRecord();
    so you simply need to add the code for the formview new record to this button's code to get:

    Code:
    var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1');
    lObj.newDetailViewRecord();
    {dialog.object}.formViewNewRecord('FORMVIEW_1');
