    Default Audit Trail

Is audit trail functional from the web interface. I've create the aduit trail in the table's events and it works fine if records are changed or deleted from within the table itself. But no trail is recorded if the recorded is modified from the web interface. Am I missing something here?
    Thanks

I would also like to know how to do this. If it could be posted here, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Steve,

I've been out of the country for a while and appreciate you helping me navigate this board on a previous question. It seems like yourself and others are very helpful in providing guidance to new users.

This question is also of interest to me, but I think the bigger picture is Alpha should take these questions as "wishlist" requests for an Action Script. If you were to put all the steps into a "script" I could download; I would gladly pay a few bucks on my account (which also would need to be setup). Doesn't sound like much, but a few bucks x 1000 is not to bad. Something similar to the .prc applets available to Palm users but just for action scripts.

Y'all should be compensated for your time given.

    Still Confused

Thanks for thinking positively about our professional time! Actually, I have it on my website (below) for $45 on the Store under "Website Traffic and Audit Trail". I include it in all of the web applications as part of of the basic system. I tend not to think of this forum as a place to advertize those sales items, but it is a good where the user wants a more turnkey solution. Purchase means I can afford to be more involved and make sure the solution works for my "customer".

It can't be honed down to an action script, or at least I don't know how. This particular method requires creating a couple tables, a couple reports, one A5W page and then adding two lines of code to each page you want to audit (or just putting that code in logintest.a5w as an include.) So what I "sell" are those tables and example a5w pages and associated code to make it all work.

    Steve,

I looked at your site before posting, but it didn't look like your offering could do what I needed. I think you can do what I am looking for based on the info in the "Deep Tracking" section.

I want to track the session user, date, and changes (adds, deletes, updates) done to certain tables. Preferably the old field value, and new field value would be captured.

If your Audit Trail product can do this I would be interested in it.

The audit trail inforomation includes all of the instructions to audit add/update/delete activity. It requires placing code in the Events for Grids or in a dialog AfterValidate event. The DeepTracking is really marketing oriented and has nothing to do with Alpha WAS application actions. DeepTracking is similar to what you get with GoogleAnalysis; stats on hits, referrals, etc. For example I can tell exactly which Forum post someone was in when they clicked on my website URL.

    Hi Steve

I have read your pdf document entitled "Auditing Alpha Web Applications" which was very helpful, but I also want to record what changes occurred within a table ie the old value, new value etc. This thread started in 2006, so I wondered if there was still no standard functionality inside Alpha Web App Server V9 to record this type of information?

I could always use SQL triggers, but have read mixed views on performance

    Thanks

    Jason

I should update all of those documents. Most of the information would still apply, but there are some new tricks. On the audit trail, no still no special automatic function in Alpha for the web and what I wrote would still apply at least for page audits. But search this forum for more recent conversation about audit as I know there was a discussion recently.
