Video: Alpha Anywhere Presentation At AlwaysOn Innovation Summit

Below, you will find a video of the presentation that Alpha gave at the AlwaysOn Innovation Summit in Silicon Valley after being named a "Global 100 Company to Watch" by AlwaysOn:

The theme of the presentation was that mobile applications are destined to become incredibly important for companies to embrace in order to maintain long term competitiveness.

The presentation itself can be seen here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zdf513hmg8ufftc/always%20on%20with%20script%20and%20video%20august%204th.pdf

However, the data from IDC (May 2014) shows that companies are having a very hard time getting these applications built because:

  1. Enterprise mobile apps are in fact  hard to build and

  2. The current options for development  are either very code intensive and require too much time and skill (and therefore cost too much,) or the no code options simply run out of steam before the job can be completed.

The presentation also covers one of the challenges of mobile develop that make them hard to build - namely making the apps offline capable. See this essay on the offline challenge by Alpha CTO Dan Bricklin . The presentation outlines that almost 9 out of 10 corporations regard offline to be critical,  and also lays out that the current approaches to offline can often triple the cost of mobile enterprise application development.

The presentation outlines how Alpha Anywhere was designed to mitigate these challenges and dramatically speed up the time taken to build enterprise mobile apps with the added benefit being able to build mobile (and web) apps that can operate when they are disconnected or when the signal is poor.

The Alpha platform is the only unified mobile and web app development and deployment environment with distinct “no-code” and “low-code” components. Using the Alpha TransForm no-code product, business users and developers can take full advantage of all the capabilities of the smartphone to turn any form into a mobile app in minutes, and power users can add advanced app functionality with Alpha TransForm's built-in programming language. IT developers can use the Alpha Anywhere low-code environment to develop complex web or mobile business apps from scratch, integrate data with existing systems of record and workflows (including data collected via Alpha TransForm), and add additional security or authentication requirements to protect corporate data.
