AlphaMailer - An on-line E-mailing Service

AlphaMailer is an on-line service for delivering customized mailings to an e-mail list. Mailings can be sent in a rich, HTML format. Using an on-line service that is dedicated to the reliable distribution of targeted e-mail has numerous advantages compared with mailing yourself, using your own e-mail account.

Create Email to Send to User with Password Dialog

The Create Email to Send to User with Password dialog defines the template for an email to send to a user who has requested lost login information and entered the required information on the Lost Password page. The host computer must be configured to send email.

Email Automation

Alpha Anywhere provides three utilities that combine to provide opportunities for email automation.

Email Client

Alpha Anywhere has a built-in email feature which lets you send and receive email directly through Alpha Anywhere. Also included is an email client, which you can access by selecting Tools > Email. If you choose to use the Alpha Anywhere email client, you do not have to use an external email client (such as Eudora or Outlook ) to send messages.

Email Profiles

Alpha Anywhere email uses Profiles to record the various settings that you need to send and received emails. You may have multiple profiles, each with different names and characteristics. Most of the settings documented here are used by the Alpha Anywhere internal Email Client. Alpha Anywhere can also use third party (external) email clients such as Microsoft's Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express, and Qualcomm Incorporated's Eudora. This is where you specify if you want to use an external email client and its name.

Emailing Scripts and Functions

To email a script or function:

Integrated Email HTML Editor

Alpha Anywhere makes it possible for you to compose emails in plain text and HTML formats. The Email Editor incorporates the HTML Editor that is separately available as a utility within Alpha Anywhere.

Mail Merge with Microsoft Word

The Mail Merge action exports records to the Microsoft Word Mail Merge function. It can use an existing template or you can create one as you go.

Netmailer

Netmailer is a fully integrated Alpha Anywhere extension for sending emails to a mailing list.

Receive an Email Message

The Receive an Email Message action allows the user to receive email using either the built-in Alpha Anywhere email client, or the user's default email client (e.g. Eudora, Outlook etc.). This is an extremely versatile function that lets you send an email message that includes data from the current record.

Receiving an Email

Alpha Anywhere incorporates an Email Reader to complement the email client. The result is that you can use Alpha Anywhere for both your personal emails as well as your application-driven emails. To receive an email:

Send an Email Message

The Send an Email Message action allows the user to send email using either the built-in Alpha Anywhere email client, or the user's default email client (e.g. Eudora, Outlook etc.). This is an extremely versatile function that lets you send an email message that includes data from the current record.

Send Selected Files

The Send Selected Files action lets you select files to send by email as attachments. You can specify specific files in the Genie, or prompt the user at run-time. Send Selected Files options.

Sending an Email

This tutorial shows how to build an email client into your application. There are two pages. The first allows you to compose and send an email. The second page confirms a successfully sent message and allows you to return to the previous page to send another message.

Sending and Receiving E-Mail

Alpha Anywhere includes a system object for sending and receiving email.

Sending Dialog Contents via Email

There are times when the output of a dialog should not go directly to a database. You may want to email the entry, for example. Here is how you would do that, assuming that once again you are starting with our Simple Dialog example.

Set Email Options

The Set Email Options action displays the Email Settings dialog box, which allows the user to set email settings for the built-in Alpha Anywhere email client.

Using the Alpha Anywhere Internal Email Client

Alpha Anywhere provides three utilities that combine to provide opportunities for email automation.
