The tabular and columnar views of a grid can convey a lot of information, but the human eye is much more sensitive to shapes and colors than it is to variations text. With an alternate view of a grid, you can display the same information in a way that grabs the users attention.

When you open the Alternate View Builder you will see a Main View tab to the left of the Alternate View tab. The Main View is the 'standard view' for your grid. This is where you define how an alternate view fits into the Grid Part of your component.

The chart styles can be customized beyond what is provided in the top level builder, CSS style class names coorespond to chart sections, for example the chart title font and color are set using a style class called 'chart-title'.
Here is a complete list of the non-data related chart style class name. Data styling is done using series or data classes depending on the type of chart, and it is generally a good idea to use the genie to get close to the desired style before you start tweaking the style directly in CSS.
