Reports are a versatile type of layout for printing data. Reports can order and select the record, group related records, and perform calculations. Report layouts can divide pages into columns, display graphics, and include page headers and footers.

Displays a report, label or letter layout as a PDF file using the Acrobat PDF reader. The report is displayed in either a pop-up window or in a DIV on the current page.

With Action Javascript, it is easy to put a button on a Grid that prints a report. You can easily link the report to data in the current Grid row. For example, if the value of the State field in the current grid row is 'MA', you can easily define a filter for the report that shows all states with a value of 'MA'.

If a List's Detail View has large number of fields, using individual controls to edit the data can cause a significant performance hit. Using the FormView control offers a faster alternative, capable of scaling to hundreds of fields with minimal impact on load times.

The new Quick Report Genie is considerably more useful (and attractive) than the old Genie. One key difference to note is that Quick Reports can be used as they are and saved for future editing. In contrast, the old Quick Report Genie was a one-shot, one-way starter for the Report Editor.

The native iOS keyboard has a next and previous button that can be used to navigate input controls on the screen. These buttons can be used with Alpha Anywhere application to navigate controls in the active Panel, however a little work is required to make sure the next or previous buttons do not try to navigate to a control that is on a panel that is not visible.

Some databases implement a column property called auto-increment (typically a number) to automatically generate unique key values for newly inserted table rows. You may omit the value from the SQL INSERT statement VALUES list or set it to NULL. In some cases, the database may allow you to insert a specific value provided that it is unique for the table.
