Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Fed up with Alpha - problem with server side on mobile

    Hi,

    Please, can anybody explain why xbasic works fine on dialog initialize event but doesn't works on click event.

    The funny things is, was fine on trial version few weeks ago. Now stopped, no reaction when button is clicked.

    e.control.test = "Fred" works on Dialog initialize
    e._set.test.value = "Fred" doesn't works on click event or others.

    By the way. Java script works perfect. Problem appears just on mobile

    Many thanks.

    Re: Fed up with Alpha - problem with server side on mobile

    OnDialogInitalize is a server side event and xbasic is the language to use there. onClick events are client side and only use javascript. Both examples above are xbasic and will not work in any client side events.

      It looks like you're trying to set the value of some control in your onClick. Take a look at {dialog.object}.setValue(); for that.

              Re: Fed up with Alpha - problem with server side on mobile

              Simple example

              dim tbl as P
              dim vcode as c
              dim vcheck as c

              vcode = e.dataSubmitted.Scan_Result

              tbl = table.open("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\products")
              query.filter = "code =" + vcode
              tbl.query_create()

              e._set.link.value = tbl.id_product
              e._set.test.value = tbl.name
              tbl.close()

              works, but not on mobile

                Re: Fed up with Alpha - problem with server side on mobile

                You can use xbasic on onclick BUT you need an ajax callback to do it. The ajax callback executes the xbasic on the server, but you still make the request to perform this action by clicking.

                  this is the ajaxCallback made automatically.

                  {dialog.object}.ajaxCallback('','{Grid.RowNumber}:all','serverside_778b68234c1b4315aa2c40516f75adbf','','_getData=true');

                  Question: why this doesn't work as mobile app?

                    Re: Fed up with Alpha - problem with server side on mobile

                    have you published your data files to the server?
                    your code will work if you publish the data to the server. the webserver does not have the dbf files to check. publish the data files to the server and see if the system works.

                          Have you tried doing this.
                          1. On left side of your UX, under Code, click Javascript functions
                          2. click action javascript
                          3. create/edit javascript action
                          4. Add New Action
                          5. call your action jsMagicHere
                          6. Edit action
                          7. create the ajaxcallback here

                          Now back to your button
                          1. open click event
                          2. action javascript
                          3. inline-javascript
                          4. {dialog.object}.runAction('jsMagicHere');

                          I did this really fast, but I'm pretty sure this is correct. Obviously you can use a name other than jsMagicHere but whatever you use, you must use it with exactly the same case sensitive spelling.

                              Yes always have to be careful with your publishing. I have been doing this for years and always confuse myself LOL.
