Windows 8 Compatibility - v8 -over a network

I see the last post concerning this topic was in Nov 2013. Reading what is there, I get the impression that installing v8 on a Windows 8 machine did work, but this was on a single machine. So have any more tried to do this and what is/was your experience with it?

We still have 23 XP machines in the office and we all are on V8 (13 other machines are Windows 7). We obviously have to start upgrading.

Does anyone have a similar situation.. that is, running v8 in multiple OS's ? And does your application work in all OS's?

I have some minor quirks, but one main quirk in the Window 7 machines app. We have a field in our app that when it changes, our Outlook email will open to be able to send a message. Works fine in XP, but in the Windows 7 machine we get a message that the "server is busy" and the we get a MAPI error and Outlook does not open at all.

We tried upgrading once a while ago to v10.5, but over the network it ran very slowly and I was begged to remove it. Went back to the old reliable v8.

I will be grateful for any experience, guidance, or suggestions about my questions.

what version of outlook are you running?

Outlook 2010 - 2 machines have Outlook 2007

Can't help but we have an app and we get a MAPI error when trying to send EMail within our app when using Outlook 2013 but everything is OK with Outlook 2010. Our app uses Alpha5 version 10.5

Being a non-programmer is it XP/Windows 7 or Outlook that is the problem?

I am not a programmer either ..... It's Windows 7 -- Emailing from within the A5 app (v8), Outlook 2010 and 2007 works flawlessly on all of our XP machines - any Windows 7 machine gives the MAPI error when trying to email from our application.

outlook has to be closed when you click the button or an api error comes up
Seems all the later ms office stuff is doing that.

v8 seems super slow on the win 8 machine.

Good thing is v10 - v12 all work on xp machines . In fact, testing says maybe a little further back like vista.

If you have outlook v10 open while doing your email and try to send an email from alpha via outlook, you will get a mapi error
