Find & Replace from external program

Is there anyway To find and replace from external program to Alpha 5
example: we have a text file that has names and addresses and change of address
we also have a Alpha 5 file that has names and addresses but no change of address We want to check all the changes

You could import the text file into a temporary table and then append it to your main alpha table.

Edit: I see Stan already gave you that answer - sorry. I take it you're looking for something like how an addin might be used in Excel to link to Alpha.

External program is Notepad , but because we have a lot of small files daily we cannot make a temp file Also the notepad file if not set up as a character delimited File We think a macro file Will doing much more
