    Default 403 Forbidden

I have a site up and running for about a year (how time flys). It is hosted on a XP machine using No-IP.com.

Yesterday, I updated to the latest patch (version 8 build 1980_3163). Everything worked last night, but this morning I can't get to the home page. I'm getting 403 Forbidden "The security settings of this server do not allow access from your browser. "

I restarted the WAS, and disabled the Security Framework, and republished the files but same thing.

I looked at other posts on 403 but haven't made any progress.

    Any suggestions?

That is a very specific message not related to the web security. It indicates the server is set up with IP address restrictions and the IP address of the computer making the request is blocked in the Application Server configuration.

There has been one IP address blocked but it wan't mine. Yesterday I decided to allow it again, and in the WAS Access I selected to allow that IP address. I incorrectly assumed that selecting the allow button and keeping the IP address in the list would allow that IP, plus all others. That was wrong. It really means "Allow Only".

...and years later your advice helps once more; thank you

I could not figure out why, after learning how to create the tabbed ui and generating it as home.a5w, I was unable to see my web site other than in working or live preview, both of which showed great success.
I examined over and over the security settings, pages to load after login, after logout, etc.
Also if I simply typed in my URL/home.a5w, everything was fine, but never when simply pointing to the URL.

Your Oct 2006 comment pointed me back to the original server setting (which I had not touched for months) where I did NOT have home.a5w as a possible default page. duh.
(somehow this falls in the Occam's Razor realm). All is okay again, thank you.
