    Default calling a web service

    Hi,

    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a web service, i im trying to consUme a web service from an external system and put the data into a aplha table for viewing in a grid.

    I think the answer is probably yes, but that there is limited experience here. I've used HTTP_POST function to post a request with criteria, and then receive, parse and process the simple text or XML response. Beyond that, like SOAP, you will need Javascript or other 3rd party API tools to perform the function.

    I have interacted with a webservice using SOAP mesages but this was from a desktop application. I am definately no expert on this. It was only the once so far and I only learned enough to get the job done. SOAP messages are just specially formatted XML so I used http_fetch and like Steve used Alpha's character functions to parse the response.
