Visual FoxPro Developers Looking to Build Mobile and Web Apps are Turning to Alpha Anywhere

Visual FoxPro developers debate Alpha Anywhere's responsive HTML5 web and rapid mobile application development solution

We recently came across a discussion on the web in which Visual FoxPro developers were debating their future direction with Microsoft ending development on Visual FoxPro, and the pressure on them to build modern applications to run on mobile devices and the desktop web.

We noticed that a number of those commenting had already adopted Alpha Anywhere, our rapid mobile application development environment, as a solution. With permission from the author, we include one of the comments below in case you are looking for an alternative to Visual Foxpro:

A Visual FoxPro developers experience moving to Alpha Anywhere's responsive web and rapid mobile application development environment:

I tried Visual Studio and  LightSwitch before I made my final move to Alpha Five development a year and half ago. With LightSwitch I did not get the desired results and it was really limited.

I highly recommend Alpha Anywhere . It is extremely powerful for building apps that work on the desktop or mobile devices.  Alpha  is a very friendly environment and one can develop applications much faster than with  DOT NET. It has its own language, Xbasic and there are many functions similar to Visual FoxPro.

Recently, Alpha released  Alpha Anywherem, introducing powerful support for mobile devices. You can develop one version of an app that works on iOS, Android, and Windows devices or any tablet, as well as on the desktop web. It's a major time saver.

It also makes it very easy to  support responsive application design. Check out

See my video of an application I developed at to get an idea of a powerful application built very rapidly with Alpha Anywhere. Also check out a webinar I ran for developing Alpha applications below:

In terms of my background:

I was a Visual FoxPro developer for then 20 years and started with FoxBase and worked with all FoxPro versions. Microsoft killed Visual FoxPro and after quite sometimes I found Alpha . It really was a struggle to find such a great tool. After Visual FoxPro I developed also with Dot Net.

For for me Alpha Anywhere  is the ultimate software development tool. My whole development environment team switched to Alpha once I found it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
