P&A Group & Farber Consulting Eye Alpha Anywhere for Offline Apps

In my previous blog, I detailed how two companies plan to use Alpha Anywhere's 3.0 robust transactional offline capabilities, which make it easy to build offline-capable mobile apps without having to incur incremental time and cost. As we have described in previous blogs - according to Wired magazine, with other approaches, offline support can easily TRIPLE the time and cost needed to add offline support because of the added complexity introduced such as the need for conflict detection and resolution and the need for persistence. With the release of Alpha Anywhere 3.0, building offline access into mobile applications has never been easier. Here are two more companies, who have been working with the beta, with similar plans using Alpha Anywhere 3.0.

P&A Group and Offline Access

P&A Group offers high-quality assistance in the design, administration, and communication of a wide range of employee benefits plans, compensation plans, and retirement and investment services. It has a large stable of diverse clients, including Amtrak and the New York City Metro Transit Authority. It serves hundreds of thousands of people in benefits plans, and is responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars of transactions. Handling such varied needs for so many different customers requires a constant stream of development work and application building.  The company uses Alpha Anywhere because its low-code  approach lets it  build applications extremely quickly, including call center applications, with only a three-person IT staff, says Gregory Zilliox, Director of IT Services, P&A Group. Zilliox is impressed with Alpha Anywhere's offline capabilities, and plans to build mobile apps to make its call center managers more productive. "By using tablets, managers could walk around and interface with people rather than just sit in an office. With offline capabilities, even when a manager lost connectivity, s/he could still easily pull up records and then update them as soon as his connectivity resumes and any errors and conflicts would be handled intelligently by Alpha Anywehre 3.0. Also because of the persistence built into Alpha Anywhere 3.0, the manager will be able to restore the app and the data without having to go back to the server. It will be a big productivity booster."

Farber Consulting - Offline Apps with Avis

The Avis locations now wants to leverage tablets and smartphones for its agents.  The Farber Consulting group will be using  Alpha Anywhere 3.0 to build a mobile version of the Avis Car Rental Contract Manager, helping boost agent productivity, and  saving on hardware costs. The Alpha platform is the only unified mobile and web app development and deployment environment with distinct “no-code” and “low-code” components. Using the Alpha TransForm no-code product, business users and developers can take full advantage of all the capabilities of the smartphone to turn any form into a mobile app in minutes, and power users can add advanced app functionality with Alpha TransForm's built-in programming language. IT developers can use the Alpha Anywhere low-code environment to develop complex web or mobile business apps from scratch, integrate data with existing systems of record and workflows (including data collected via Alpha TransForm), and add additional security or authentication requirements to protect corporate data.
