Market Potential for apps created in Alpha Anywhere - Just took off!

xiaomi

I came across the following article in TechCrunch yesterday about Xiaomi and their high quality/very low prices smartphones (and tablets.)

It is the kind of thing that has to make you stand up and take notice.

Some of the highlights from the article are:

  • Over 60 million smart phones were sold last year by Xiaomi

  • At price points that are less than 1/3 the cost of iPhones (see PC World article on how they do it.)

  • A new version of their best selling smartphone has been announced and it will sell for about $112 unlocked (compare that to an Apple or Samsung or HTC device)

Check out this link on their web site - they are making nice smartphones!
Q) So what does this all mean if you are developer or a company considering how you are going to build mobile apps for business to take advantage of the  new world of truly affordable smartphones ?

A) Increased Opportunity!

At these lower and highly disruptive prices, all of the major analyst firms are predicting we will see 4-5 billion smartphones plus tablets in use world wide in the next 3-4 years.

While the USA and the EU has about 800 million people, it is a little over 10% of the world's 7 billion people. Companies will soon be able to reach a much broader audience than ever before!

Now with Alpha Anywhere 3.1 and its ability to quickly build secure and robust offline mobile apps for business , there is nothing stopping you or your company from riding the wave.

P.S. It is worth noting that in this new world, where the operating costs of mobile apps once they are built are also an important consideration (in addition to the mobile device costs.) The ability to build offline capable apps, means that it is possible to build apps for devices that don't have a mobile data plan. For example if you have created a mobile app for your sales or service force, saving $50 per month per user for 100 or a 1000 people can result in savings of $5000 to $50000 per month!

The Alpha platform is the only unified mobile and web app development and deployment environment with distinct “no-code” and “low-code” components. Using the Alpha TransForm no-code product, business users and developers can take full advantage of all the capabilities of the smartphone to turn any form into a mobile app in minutes, and power users can add advanced app functionality with Alpha TransForm's built-in programming language. IT developers can use the Alpha Anywhere low-code environment to develop complex web or mobile business apps from scratch, integrate data with existing systems of record and workflows (including data collected via Alpha TransForm), and add additional security or authentication requirements to protect corporate data.
